Welcome to the start of the 2014-2015 school year!
You are warmly invited to the following events:
- First Day of School Coffee, on Tuesday, August 19, after drop off at 8:25 A.M. outside the MP Room
- Kindergarten Parent Coffee, on Wednesday, August 20, after drop off at 8:25 A.M. outside Kinder Rooms
- Spaghetti Dinner, on Saturday, August 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. in the MP Room
- First PTA General Meeting of the year, on Tuesday, September 9, at 8:30 A.M. in the El Carmelo Library
- Meet our new Superintendent, Dr. Glenn “Max” McGee, at a Coffee with the Superintendent, Wednesday, September 10th, from 8:30-9:30am in the MP Room
Our Principal, Chuck Merritt, and PTA representatives will be there to welcome you. We’d love to see you! Be sure to check the PTA calendar in the packet for all the other great events we are bringing you this year.

One Check Form: One-Stop Shopping and eNews/Carmeletter Distribution Information
The One Check Form makes it easy for you to write a single check to join the PTA, shop at the school Spirit Shop, and make a donation. We invite you to make an $85 voluntary contribution per student to cover part of the cost of school supplies ($25) and field trips ($60). The PTA saves us all time and money by purchasing classroom supplies in bulk and ensures that teachers have a uniform set of supplies for their students to use throughout the year. In addition, the PTA provides the funding for all the field trips teachers have carefully chosen to enrich their curriculum. We welcome any additional contributions you wish to make to support El Carmelo PTA programs. Please join and support the PTA. Because every child benefits, we appreciate every family’s participation.
The One Check Form also allows you to make sure you are on the distribution list for eNews and the Carmeletter. Even if you cannot make a contribution, please fill out the back of the form and return it to the school office so you can stay informed about what is going on at El Carmelo.
The PTA is an entirely volunteer-run organization with many opportunities for you to serve. There are both ongoing and one-time possibilities, and jobs that can be done at home or at El Carmelo, during the day or in the evening. There is truly something for everyone. Thank you so much for making a difference for our children.
A word about Directory Information:
If you indicated during the online PAUSD registration process that you wish to release your contact information to the PTA, then your family’s information will be included in the Student Directory (which is free with each PTA membership). If you would like to change, add, or delete any information provided by PAUSD to El Carmelo PTA for the Student Directory, please send an e-mail to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. The PTA publishes the Student Directory to strengthen the El Carmelo community by sharing the voluntarily provided parent and student contact information and class lists. The Directory is for the private use of El Carmelo students, parents and staff only. The information is not shared by the PTA with anyone outside of the El Carmelo PTA, nor used by the PTA for any commercial or political purposes.
I’d also like to point out a few exciting changes for this year. Our grade level Back to School Picnics are being combined into one night, and we will have food trucks there for those of you who are on the go. This event will be Tuesday, September 16 and coincides with our Scholastic Book Fair Stories, Milk & Cookies night.
